Vikram-Aishwarya rai to film in Kerala

Now that Vikram has completed his part in Susi Ganesan's Kanthasamy and Aishwarya Rai is on the verge of completing the first schedule of Robot (probably by October 8th) Mani Ratnam has decided to start shooting his bilingual film. The news is that he will start with the Tamil version first and will film scenes pertaining to Vikram and Aishwarya in dense forests of Salakkudi, Kerala; filming begins on October 10th.

Mani Ratnam is making this film in Hindi and Tamil. The Tamil version features Vikram in the lead role and pairs him up with Aishwarya Rai; Prithviraj plays the villain. After a long time, actor Karthik will work with Mani Ratnam, who made him a household name with Mouna Ragam and Agni Natchathiram.

The Hindi version features Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai in the lead. Vikram makes his Bollywood debut in this version; he will reprise the role done by Prithviraj in Tamil.

Meanwhile, Aishwarya Rai is extremely happy for finally being able to act with Rajinikanth, who, according to her, is a family friend. Aishwarya Rai, while giving an interview in Gurgaon while inaugurating a boutique, said that she is enjoying acting with Rajinikanth. She said that it was a learning experience to work with stalwarts like Rajinikanth and director Shankar.

Aishwarya Rai in Ashokavanam

Aishwarya Rai is about to arrive to India from Peru in a few hours time from now. She will feature in the film titled 'Ashokavanam'. But this is not a new film which she has signed recently. This is a film of Mani Ratnam which has fetched a title. Ashokavanam happens to be the film of Director Mani Ratnam and the estimated budget of this film is said to be 125 crores. Some sources reveal that the cast and crew of the film is taking almost 36 cores and so the film is taking a high stand in terms of investments.

Vikram to dance with Shreya and Mumaith Khan

Vikram-starrer Kanthasamy is taking a long time to complete and yet it always pops up in the news for different reasons. A while ago, a song sequence shot in Mexico has attracted a lot of interest in the film. In this song based on the famous bullfights of Mexico, both Vikram and Shreya were dressed as matadors.

Now, the makers of Kanthasamy have decided to cash in on the item number frenzy in Indian films by roping in hot and sexy Mumaith Khan for a song. Moreover, it will also be a remix of an old hit (comedy actor Chandrababu's 'Pambarak Kannale Kadhal...'). Mumaith will shake a leg with Vikram in the song.

Kanthasamy is directed by Susi Ganesan, who had earlier directed films like Virumbugiren, Thiruttu Payale and Five Star.

The film already has the very hot Shreya as heroine. With Mumaith also appearing in an item number song, there is no doubt that the screen will be scorched by these two beauties. With so much to expect from the film, it is no wonder audiences are eagerly waiting for it to release.

UTV signs Vikram, Surya

UTV, the filmmaking and media corporate giant, has finally managed to make Vikram and Surya sign on the dotted lines of its contracts! Thought big-time corporate companies made solid inroads into Kollywood in the past few years, many top actors of Kollywood remained wary of them, but now their guard is slackening up and they are beginning to see the opportunities that can be provided by these corporate.

As per the contract with UTV, Surya will act in their production titled Mugamoodi, which will be directed by ace director Mysskin. (You might remember the rumour that did rounds a while ago stating Surya will act as a superhero in a Mysskin film. Well, this might be it!)

Suriya is engaged with Vaaranam Aayiram (directed by Gautham Menon) and Ayan (directed by K.V.Anand) at present. Following this, he will start working for this UTV production.

Another actor on board is Vikram, who remained elusive to film production corporate so far. The actor is slated to act in a bilingual to be made by Maniratnam following Kanthasamy.

UTV has zeroed in on two best-known method actors of recent times. It makes everyone curious as to what type of film UTV will make with them. With UTV's power, clout and reputation, which now has coupled with the immense talent of these actors, there is no wonder the results will be mind-blowing.

UTV has also signed a deal with Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu for a film as well. Kollywood's brilliant director Gautham Menon will direct him in this film.

Versatile actor Vikram will be trying his hand at singing with his latest film Kanthasamy. Music director Devi Sri Prasad has persuaded Vikram to lend his voice for one of his compositions for this film.

The film Kandasamy is simultaneously being shot in Tamil and Telugu. With actress Shreya acting opposite Vikram, the movie has been titled Mallanna in Telugu. Vikram is apparently playing a kleptomaniac in the film, due to which he undergoes some problems. Veterans Thotta Tharani, A. S. Laxmi Narayanan and Vairamuthu, winners of nine National Film Awards between them, take care of the art direction, audiography and lyrics respectively.

Shreya Kanthasamy

For Shreya Kanthasamy produced by Kalaipuli S Dhanu and directed by Susi Ganeshan, in which for the first time she pairs with Vikram wants to bring back her fortune that she was enjoying before the party that she offered to Vadivelu.

One of the classy films to be made in Tamil cinema, Kanthasamy will be a movie to reckon with Vikram's career. This movie is supposed to be a turning point for Vikram as well as Shreya. Vikram is donning various get ups which will definitely enthrall his fans and audiences.

Vikram has also performed a wonderful and thrilling stunt scene in this movie.

He comes in a form of a cock and jumps, hops and rolls into action pecking his opponents. This scene will be the highlight of the film. Susi and Dhanu are engrossed on the way this film is progressing. It is understood that this stunt scene is unique and is first in Kollywood. Let's wait and see the turning point of Kanthasamy

shreya and vikram song

For the first time, Vikram has sung a duet along with Suchitra in Susi Ganesan's action adventure Kanthasamy.

It is a sort of a question and answer sing song that goes like this- Excuse me Mr. Kanthasamy….. and will be picturised on Vikram and Shriya.

The song is one of the five, foot-tapping numbers tuned by music director Devi Sri Prasad. At the launch of the film, a few months back a special trailer was made for the occasion where this song was played in the background.

Now Susi and music director Devi has reworked the peppy song, and provided more "dum" to it. In the film, it is going to be a cute love song between an angry Shriya and a cool Vikram, who are at loggerheads.

This unique come-hither song has potential to be a chartbuster is going to be picturised in Mexico next month in a lavish manner by a Mumbai based choreographer.

While Vikram was enjoying being kissed, upset Shriya walked out of the shooting spot and finally the shooting was cancelled.

It was first the loss of Sujatha, then Raghuvaran that is shocking Kollywood.

Sujatha's loss fixed Robo team, while Raghuvaran's loss has really confused Kanthasamy team.

Raghuvaran acted as father of Shreya and the character was given so much importance because of the talents of the super villain Raghuvaran.

Now the director and his team are confused how to compensate the loss of the character!

Its a good fortunate time for Kollywood. Even if the movie fails to stay in theaters, its doing wonderful in terms of money. Say, for Kuruvi, even though its a flop in theaters, it made huge collections in India as well as in international markets including London! If the case of failed movies itself is doing good money imagine the money flow for successful movies. Dasavatharam has done record collection in Singapore, Malaysia and Britain. Kanthaswamy, in which Vikram and Shriya has starred is being sold in international markets on high demand and it is believed that the producer made Rs 10 million by selling UK rights alone.

Kanthasamy in trouble

Vikram starrer Kanthasamy was shot in Mexico, but when the team arrived in India, they learnt that the film roles were damaged in transit. This has upset the team and now the team is depending on the sets put up in Binni Mills campus. Few says that it may be the action of 'Amman' due to anger as the team spread a rumor that the Neam tree that the team used for shooting started pouring milk. Many astrologers also confirm that it should be due to God's curse. Now a days, the action from God seems to more fast than from the Indian legal system.

Vikram in Holidayz?

Rumours about Vikram acting in a Kannada movie named Holidayz can be safely ignored. One of the crew members of the film spoke to media and revealed that they indeed have a guest role for him and are very keen to cast him. But since Vikram is very busy in Tamil films like Kanthaswamy, they did not get a chance to speak with him regarding the role. He added that media reports that Vikram is considering acting in Holidayz are wrong since he has not even been approached for the role. The cameo appearance will need just one day of shooting. He added that the media will be notified once they have spoken to him and if they reach an agreement.

Vikram replaced Maniratnam Film

It had been reported earlier that Vikram has a role in Mani Ratnam's film starring Abhishek and Aishwarya. This film would have been Vikram's tryst with Bollywood. But after the lukewarm response to the Bachchans' Sarkar Raj, it looks like Mani has decided to take an actor who has a national appeal. So it will be Sanjay Dutt taking Vikram's place. Vikram at present is working in Kanthasamy, which is expected to be a Deepavali release.

Kuselan, the Rajini starrer, has been making news from the day the movie was announced. And it is making the biggest news ever as it nears completion: Rajinikanth, Vikram will be seen together in a song in this film. Yes! It is incredible but true! The makers of Kuselan have decided to make this song incredibly grand. That is the reason they have decided to rope in all the frontline actors of Kollywood. The song begins with the words 'Cinema…cinema…MGR, Sivaji, NTR….ivargal irundha cinema…..inimale idhu pol varuma'.

Ileana-Vikram in a film

Ileana is all set to act with vikram in his upcoming film which will be directed by K.S. Ravikumar. The beautiful and shapely actress who rules Tollywood, has been very scarce in Kollywood. Kedi, a Ravikrishna starrer, was the only tamilfilm she had acted in. The actress is very choosy about films even in Tollywood and takes care that she does not tarnish the image that she has built up. Recently, it was decided that Khatarnak, one of her Telugu hits, will be dubbed in Tamil and work is in progress in this regard. All this must have made her realize her reach in Tamil Nadu and encouraged her to do a Tamil film. And she has signed up for a prospective blockbuster, for when K.S. Ravikumar directs a movie, it sure turns out a hit and now, with Vikram teaming up with him, nothing less than a blockbuster can be expected. Also, the actress has put an end to speculations that she is shifting her attention to bollywood by signing three Telugu films. These speculations were based on her denial to sign Southern films after her latest success Bhale Dongalu. It is the trend of successful South Indian actresses moving to Bollywood that has to be blamed. We all can breathe a sigh of relief now that we know she is is not migrating Northwards.

Vikram depends on Kanthasamy

Vikram seems to be depending on Kanthasamy for good commercial success. Every actors' value depends on the money generated by their latest movie. For quite a long time Vikram seems to be doing less in terms of commercial success and he want to break this barrier. He is depending totally on Kanthasamy for a break. He feels Kanthasamy will do the best in biz and it will be a great commercial hit of the year.

‘Kanthaswamy’ will be my blockbuster: Vikram

Chiyaan Vikram is quite confident about his forthcoming project Kanthaswamy's success. He predicted that the movie would be his best in terms of commercial success. "It will be my blockbuster movie", declared the versatile actor, while talking to a reporter. Chiyaan also hinted that the movie would be an example of stylish making of a movie. "You will see a different Susi Ganesan in 'Kanthaswamy'", says Vikram. The national award winner has also expressed his desire to play a role like the one played by Aamir Khan in 'Tare Zameen Par'. "It is an amazing film. The hero enters the scene only after the interval. It is not possible in Tamil movies and I am not an exception to this rule. If given a chance, I will act in such films". Now it is up to the filmmakers to make a 'Tare Zameen Par' in Tamil. If anyone dares to make such an attempt, here is an actor with proven ability to handle different roles.

Vikram plays double role

The ever experimenting Vikram, who is now concentrating on Susi Ganesan's 'Kanthaswamy', will don two different roles in his next movie. The movie, directed by K S Ravikumar, who is currenly busy with the post production work of Kamal Hassan's magnum opus, Dasavadharam. Great going Chiyaan! In 'Kanthaswamy' too Vikram handles three different characters but it is still not clear as to whether they are different roles or different appearances. But it is confirmed that Vikram plays double role in K S Ravikumar's movie, which will be commenced soon after the completion of 'Kanthaswamy'. As we have reported earlier, Vikram will do a film with ace director Mani Rathnam in 2009. Though Vikram has handled three different characters in Shankar's 'Anniyan', they were not different roles. They were actually different shades of a single person and Vikram had handled those shades extremely well.

Mansoor in ‘Kandasaamy’!

Mansoor Ali Khan makes his comeback into the film industry. Earlier Mansoor acted in the negative roles in the films. Then he decided to try his hands as a hero, which never paid off. He also tried to make it in politics but he could not make it. the actor has now made up his mind to take up any role that could mark his comeback and pave way for his better position in the acting field. Mansoor sent his the message with the sources close to the directors informing them about his intensions. He had an immediate response from the director Susi Ganesan, who is currently shooting the film 'Kandasaamy'. The director has offered Mansoor to do the negative role in the film. Mansoor has accepted the offer since the character is very important in the film. The film stars Vikram and Shriya in the lead roles.

Kamal, Ajith, Vijay, Vikram in Rajini’s Kuselan

Om Shanthi Om, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer, which was last year's biggest Bollywood block-buster, featured a song in which 31 major Hindi film stars came together to shake a leg with SRK. And now taking a lead from the film, Kollywood director P.Vasu, who is known to have tremendous goodwill in this industry, plans to rope in major stars for his forthcoming film kuseylan, which stars Rajinikanth. In OSO, the song is based on the situation where SRK's character (an actor) wins an award and throws a party, which is attended by all major stars. As Vasu's film is also about an who rises to 'super' stardom, he plans to approach stars like Kamal Haasan, Vijay, Ajith, Vikram, and Trisha for a special song in the Tamil version of the film. Chiranjeevi, Mahesh Babu, Balakrishna and others are being approached for the Telugu version of this song. K.Balachandar (kuseylan's Producer) is regarded as a mentor for both Rajinikanth as well as Kamal Haasan. Sources said that as P.Vasu is close to both, Kamal would approve his role without hesitation. When contacted by media, Vasu agree that there was a plan to come up with a special song, but said it was in its primitive stages. "Once things are confirmed, we would make an announcement," he said.

‘Bheema’ reports good collections

The film Bheema with Vikram and Trisha in the lead unlock to some mixed talk initially. But the film has picked up and is now doing well at all the places where it was released. The climax is very bold and some people felt that the climax would affect the fate of the film at the box office. But resist such predictions, the film gross well over 20 crores during its first week. Besides Vikram and Trisha, Prakash Raj's action, Harris Jayaraj's music and stunts by Kanal Kannnan are some of the highlights of the film.

Vikram-Selva comes together

With the entire effort and hurdles for the past two years he faced, the dedicated actor finally can have a sigh of relief. His long awaited "Bheema" has finally hit the screens and is running successfully. Now, Vikram is fully focused on his upcoming venture "Kandaswamy" directed by Susi Ganesan and produced by 'Kalaipuli' S.Dhanu. Vikram says this movie will be a visual treat to all and children will love this movie. Get set to see Chiyaan as a Super Hero. So what's next for Vikram? In a press meet held at Chennai, Vikram confirmed about his venture after 'Kandhasamy'. It will be a combination of Vikram and Selvaraghavan. Ace director Selvaraghavan, whose passion for realistic cinema, will direct Vikram's next. Selva is currently busy with 'Aayirathal Oruvan' starring 'Paruthi Veeran' fame Karthi.

Vikram’s adversity due to ‘Bheema’

Recently actor Vikram announced that, he had taken up the role of hero for the film 'Bheema' barely due to its interesting climax and luckily for him, the film is doing well. But then, in this process the actor had to make several compromises and in his own words, the star mentioned that had he done 2-3 films during this phase of the film, he would have easily made around Rs 10 Crores. However, there was so much confusion regarding the climax of 'Bheema' that he could not afford to take the chance of another assignment. Well Vikram, hardwork pays and with the results of the film coming out positively this should serve as a comfort.

Vikram: The real Bheemaa

A junior police officer tells in the movie to the police commissioner: "He is the force that sustains the entire gang. He is the Bheeema, who holds the entire weight on his shoulders". The words perfectly fit the role of Vikram in comparison with the movie Bheema is concerned. In other words, he is not only the Bheemaa IN the movie. He is the Bheemaa OF the movie. He has carried the movie on his strong and able shoulders just as the legendary Bheemaa carried his brothers and mother through the dangerous jungles. True. Bheemaa has excellent music and outstanding camera work. Lingusamy has come out with a script that deals with the subject with sincerity. Ramakrishnan has penned some sharp and sensible dialogues. Kanal Kannan has stunningly choreographed the stunts. Trisha adds marvel to the fare, while Prakash Raj delivers a powerful performance. However, it is Vikram, who is the lifeline of the movie. Lingusamy once said that he has shaped the story keeping Vikram in his mind. Vikram has more than lived up to his expectations. Vikram personifies the essence of the legendary character Bheemaa, who dares to take on anybody, come what may. Bheema is fearless. You look at Vikram's eyes in the film and you can make out what is fearlessness. Legendary Bheemaa relishes strong opponents. You can see the same feeling perfectly reflected in Vikram's body language when he gets ready to face a horde of thugs in the market all alone. If Vikram breaths fire in stunt scenes, he enlivens the proceedings when he shows adulation towards Chinna. He mesmerizes the audience when he exudes the feeling of love. He hits like a thunder in the market. He plays like a kid with kids in the next scene. He innocently smiles at Prakash Raj like a small boy looking at his mentor with adulation. He challenges the commissioner in the party with care free attitude. Later he his face melts like a piece of ice kept under the sun when he looks at a flower. Everything is done with composure. You cannot imagine many actors fitting so perfectly in all these scenes. There will be many who would appreciate Vikram for his portrayal of a mentally affected person in 'Sethu'. His portrayal of a visually impaired in 'Kasi', his handling of a graveyard caretaker with animal instincts in 'Pithamagan', and his unbelievable depiction of multiple personality in Anniyan had many takers and admirers. But Vikram's dimensions do not confined to these roles alone. He has much more to be adored. Very few would have appreciated his portrayal of a collage student with astounding reality in 'Sethu' and smart rendering of a youth aspiring to become a police officer in Dil. He also excelled when it came to enthrall the audiences with commercial cocktail in Gemini. The ease with which he brought out the image of a Police officer with gray shades in 'Samy' was a rare treat on screen. The fact is that Vikram works hard for each of his film irrespective of which genre it belongs to. He gives his 100 per cent in whatever role he plays. He transforms himself as the character he gets. It is this involvement that made him the Bheema of Lingusamy. When Lingu briefed him about the character, Vikram required a few days of time. When he came back, he stunned the director with his appearance. He transformed himself as the character. The make up, the body language, the expressions… Lingusamy was taken aback. "How is your Sekar?" asked Vikram to his director, who was awestruck by the involvement of the man. Vikram loves to experiment. He loves challenges. Everyone knows that Vikram is a fine actor, who could handle any kind of roles. But the handsome actor with lot of talent and hunger for success got a real break after a painful and long struggle. Everyone recognized him when 'Sethu' came in 1999. But he made his debutant as early as in 1990 (En Kadhal Kanmani). He did not have a godfather to back him. To make things worse, he met with a serious accident, which forced him to rest in the bed for almost three years. But when he was offered a chance, he grabbed it and porved the world who he was. The success of Sethu was followed by the successes of Dhill, (2001), Gemini (2002), Dhool, and Saamy (both in 2003). The film prompted director Shankar to notice the potential in him. He booked him for his mega project Anniyan. Vikram, one of the rare actors, who could hold the movie with his performance, has won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his outstanding performance in Pithamagan in 2003. He has also won the 52nd Filmfare South Award for Best Actor for his good performance in Anniyan, 2005. These awards are just a few indications of the heights Vikram, the outstanding actor is about to reach. Very few actors would have maintained their charm even if they do not have any releases for a couple of years. Vikram has proved that he is one such actor. Bheemaa came after 26 months of his previous release (Majaa in 2005 November). When Bheemaa was delayed due to financial troubles, Vikram showed his commitment and loyalty towards the project he had taken up. He had actually owned up the project and hence decided to fore go many offers that could have fetched him more fame and crores of money. It is the commitment and rare talent that make Vikram stand out. When such an actor throws his weight behind a project like Bheemaa, there will be little doubt about the success of the venture. The results driving from various centers prove this point beyond doubt.

Three movies every year for Actor Vikram

Vikram is finally a calmed man now. His Bheema has finally seen the lights after a gap of three years. Talking about this the actor says that he did Bheema for its exclusive climax. After Majaa, Vikram did not do anyother movie because of his commitment to Bheema. The price he paid was almost 12 crore, Vikram says. He had a one and half crore personal loss and upto 10 crore losses for not accepting any other movies during this time. The film Bheema has been sold for 23 crores and is expected to get a distributors share of 1 crore in Tirunelveli-Tanjore belt, which normally happens only for blockbusters. The actor is open to all kinds of roles and is willing to experiment his roles, but wants to work only with experienced directors. Kanthasamy will be a children's oriented movie and will be a treat to them. Cheeyan Vikram will next do a movie with Selvaraghavan.

Mansoor`s Kanthasamy connection

Actor Vikram Mansoor Ali Khan is back in cinema as the baddie in the Vikram, Shriya starrer 'Kanthasamy'. After suffering a setback in his film as well as political aspirations, it seems that the actor is now in a mood to make amends. He is seriously considering reviving back his drooping acting career by making the right moves. The actor is convinced of his poor take as a hero and has now agreed to settle down for any interesting character roles to benefit up his career. The positive response came from director Susi Ganesan who was out on a hunt for a villain for Vikram and Shriya starrer 'Kanthaswamy'. So we can see Mansoor making a comeback in Kanthaswamy.

“Bheema” – continuing problems

No films of Vikram was released during the last year. Would anything happen this year? There is a big team waiting along with Vikram; like Lingusamy, Trisha, R. D. Rajasekar and Harris Jayeraj. Their joint creation 'Bheema' has been produced several months ago. It has crossed several release dates. They said that December 2007 was a certainty. But nothing happened. Now they say it is due for Pongal. Even that is now uncertain. Seven films like Simbu's 'Kalai', Bharath's 'Pazhani', Cheran's 'Pirivom sandippom' and Prem's 'Ashoka' are getting released during Pongal. 'Bhima has already been censored. It has been granted a U/A certification and parental guidance for age below 18. What is understood from the studios is that due to finance problems 'Bhima may be pushed to the end of the month. The people who worked for the film are worried, as the film has been awaiting release for a long time. Having produced a successful film by using Pulsar motorbike, Vetrimaran is doubly thrilled at getting the gift of a car. Dhanush is the hero in Vetrimaran's next film too!

Bheema- The wait is finally over

A year long wait for fans of Vikram has finally come to an end with his Bheema all ready to polish the screens. This long pending project was in the cans for numerous reasons and every festive occasion that passed seemed like a possible release date. The censors have cleared this movie on the 31st of December and given it 'A' certificate for some graphic violence and Bheema is all ready for release in the Pongal weekend. In the middle of all this, there was also a buzz that Bheema may not make it for Pongal and that it would only see a late January release owing to some pending financial issues. All this was put to an end today with the producers claiming that the film is on schedule and will hit the theatres on January 11th in order to cash in on the six day long Pongal weekend. The financial mess which was dogging the film has been settled by London Karunas of Ayngaran films. It has been reported that notices have been issued to Vikram's fan clubs to start decorating the theatres on the 10th itself. Vikram fans can heave a big sigh of relief now that Bheema is finally arriving with a big hit this Pongal.

Vikram’s gesture on New Year

Many stars celebrated the New Year in star hotels and striking tourist spots. But Vikram spent the day with 33 children, who had undergone heart surgery. He did this with the help of his wife and fan clubs. All India Chiyan Vikram Fan Association, a registered body of the actor's fans, has helped a lot for this noble cause with the support of Sri Ramachandra Medical Research Institute. Vikram's wife Shilaja initiated the move and the fans followed suit. Shilaja selected the poor children, who suffered from heart sickness. Vikram, along with his wife and fans, spent some quality time with the children. The outstanding actor, who keeps on doing something different on screen, is trying to make a difference in his real life as well.

Vikram with Ajith!

he trailer of Chiyaan Vikram's Bheema is now all over the media. After it was initially released on Kalaingar TV, Karunamoorthy of Ayngaran International viewed it. The trailer, which runs for 4 minutes 30 seconds is absolutely fantastic, offering an enticing peek into the movie. Karunamoorthy, impressed with the film, requested A.M. Rathnam, producer of Bheema to allow him to screen the trailer along with the mega release of Ajith's Billa. Rathnam immediately accepted the offer. So now, audiences can get to see the Bheema trailer in 72 theatres across the world. The practice is not very new in industry circles. Though initiated by Hollywood, Yash Raj Films followed this in all their releases. Also the trailer of UTV's big-budget Hrithik- Aishwarya starrer Jodha Akbar was shown along with Shahrukh Khan's Om Shanti Om. Superstar Rajnikanth's upcoming animation film Sultan - The Warrior trailer was screened along with Sivaji theatre prints. Big releases get delayed due to unexpected reasons. If this practice is regularly followed in Kollywood, it will help to satisfy fans curiosity and whet their appetite, in addition to making the screening mutually beneficial for stars and distributors. This is one more good reason to see films on the big screen.

The latest buzz to do rounds in Kollywood is that Vikram would soon act in the remake of Kamal Hassan's break hit Vikram. Sources say that it is Vikram's dream to give a fresh look to the sci-fi flick, ever since the idea of remake was ignited in Kollywood. The actor, who is known for doing all-around roles like Kamal Hassan, would wear the shoes of the top actor itself in this movie. It is said a noted film production house would produce Vikram. It would be a bilingual, which would be later dubbed in Hindi too. Sources add that works of the new project start once Vikram completes Kandasamy, which is directed by Susi Ganesan and produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu. Shreya is acting opposite Vikram in it.

‘Bheemaa’ release on January 11?

At long last, the Lingusamy directed 'Bheemaa' is to be released. Produced by AM Rathnam for Sri Surya Movies, the film would have seen 200 days if it had been released as initially planned. But fate decreed it otherwise.Lingusamy has great expectations of this film since he has veered away from his usual bani in this. Even though hero Vikram plays a dadha role, it is not a usual mobster type of film. Then? Lingusamy gives a buildup that 'Bheemaa' will throw up a lot of surprises. Vikram took along a portable gym with him for the entire shooting schedule. Just before the director called for action, Vikram would do a workout before facing the camera. Trisha has not taken any such risks. She has just reduced her costume for a song pasteurization. These are the only 2 hot news for the media! Having been in the cans for so long because of finance problems, 'Bheemaa' is to finally be released on Jan 11. When asked if this is confirmed news, no one is able to confirm it for sure!

Vikram’s Kanthaswamy in Windhoek

Vikram's Kanthaswamy is moving on in full pace. But it did hit a obstruction a few weeks ago after its director, Susi Ganesan, was injured when a pole in the shooting spot fell on his head. He suffered only a minor injury and was out of the hospital the very same day. Shooting resumed soon after and is going on as per program. This movie hit the headlines right from the day it was inaugurated; with a grand function that was even aired live by a television channel. Some of the stills released even showed the stars, Vikram and Shriya, in the jungles of Africa dressed up as tribals. These stills will soon come to life as the team prepares to leave for Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, on December 10, 2007, to shoot some of the talkie portions and also a song in the forest areas of Namibia. They will camp there for a 10-day long shoot, and are anticipated to wrap it up on December 20, 2007. All those who thought those stills were just a part of media hype gimmicks – wake up, it's a Susi Ganesan film. So what you see is what you get.

Indrajit, bad guy

With a month-long shooting for Kanthaswamy completed in and around Chennai, the whole team is now getting set to take off to some exotic, never-before-filmed locales abroad. The heroine Shriya will be joining them shortly. Word has it that the movie has a very strongly characterize villain, with a role as powerful as Vikram's. To perform that role, director Susi Ganesan is yet to finalise any artiste. The latest news is that the person being seriously considered for this part is Malayalam actor Indrajit, Prithviraj's brother. If rumours are to be believed, there will also be a bad-guy-Vikram also in the movie! Does that mean he will be playing a double role? Possibly! Bheema Music Review

Harris Jayaraj has composed yet another winner with Bheema. His music for earlier Vikatma films Saami and Anniyan have been successful. He continues to weave the magic of his musical notes in this film as well. Listen to the music of Bheema 'Oru Mugam' Lyricist: Pa. Vijay National award-winner Naresh Iyer catches your attention with his strong vocals. Ably supported by Krish, 'Oru Mugam' is a wonderful number. A catchy tune with heavy use of percussion, the songs seems like the intro song for protagonist Bheema (Vikram). The composition is full of vigour and passion, the lyrics of Pa. Vijay toeing the same line. 'Mudhal Mazhai' Lyricist: Na. Muthukumar A signature Harris Jayaraj number, 'Mudhal Mazhai' is just like the first drops of rain and equally welcome. Hariharan's soothing vocals are like light showers in the hills. Mahathi's voice adds to the gentleness of Hari; together, the two weave an emotional memory of our first loves. Though Prasanna is mentioned in the credits, the only other voice that's heard in the beginning and the interludes sounds like a female voice! 'Rangu Rangamma' Lyrics: Pa.Vijay A folk number, the song opens with drumbeats. What follows is a real treat! Vijay sounds great in this kind of song which we rarely hear him sing. But the real joy is Kailash Kher's rustic voice. Kailash has made a name for himself, exposé this kind of folk-based songs in Hindi and proves that language is no barrier. The sharpness in his voice is complemented by Swarnalatha's vocals. She is no alien to this genre either, and renders complete justice. Pa. Vijay's lyrics are full of life. From the sound, it could be the item number picturised on Sherin and Vikram. 'Ragasiya Kanavugal' Lyrics: Yugabharathi A romantic song with a tempo like a gentle breeze, 'Ragasiya kanavugal' touches your heart and brings back all your secret dreams and aspirations. Madhusree reminds us of Sadhana Sargam, who is the veteran in this type of breezy numbers. Hariharan is again a pleasure; with Madhu, the two voices together are very soulful, reminding us of the first time we fell in love. 'Siru Parvayale' Lyrics: Thamarai This is a typical Karthik song, peppy and forceful. Harini's voice is sweet and blends well with Karthik's. It is a run-of-the-mill tune, no risks taken. But still, it is nice to listen to. Thamarai, a Harris Jayaraj regular, has infused the lyrics with emotion. 'Enadhuiyrae' Lyrics: Yugabharathi Three wonderful voices come together for this slow romantic ballad. Nikhil's voice blends well with the ladies', but seems to lack the emotion, the passion that is bountiful in the female track. The voices of Chinmayee, Sadhana and Sowmya are so well blended that it is difficult to differentiate between the three. An interesting experiment, which Harris has often tried earlier and succeeded in.

Release subtle Bheema

It's not out of choice, but ill-luck! Vikram's Bheema has been waiting for release for nearly a year now, but every time we think it will hit the screens, someone else thinks otherwise. Directed by Lingusamy, Bheema brought Vikram and Trisha together again after the very successful Saami. Rising starlet Shirin is also a part of what is expected to be a fast-paced adventure on the silver screen. Harris Jeyaraj's tunes created quite a stir. Lovely melodies and stepped-up beats mark the hit tracks of this movie. And wehave been waiting to check out the visuals. The final post-production work is under way; we are given to understand that the movie has finally disentangled itself from all its financial woe and will release on Pongal.

Kanthaswamy, Billa: In Sivaji’s path

First it was the Superstar and now Ajith and Vikram follow go with. Gone are the days of the simple dressed leading man. Along with glamorous heroines, the actors too are setting the screen on fire with their style and looks. Sivaji sort of set the trend for this in Kollywood, which is being followed by Kanthaswamy. This Susi Ganesan film stars Vikram and Shriya in the lead. The entire team is working very hard for the film, and one look at the movie stills and trailer tell the story of all the hard work. The look of the lead actors, their clothes, the locations, all are very classy and stylish. The director is shooting the film in some never-before-seen locales of the world. Similarly Billa, starring Ajith, Nayantara and Namitha is a real visual treat. One glimpse of the trailer is enough to conclude that this film is going to rewrite the way action flicks are made down south. Ajith looks simply awesome! Looks like we have our own style idol now in Sivaji, Kanthaswamy and Billa!

‘Kandasamy’ takes off in rain!

B'coz of the spell of rain, lots of shooting schedules have gone away. Susi Ganesan's 'Kandasamy' has water as its central theme, so how can they shy away from a little rain? Produced by Thanu and starring Vikram and Shriya, 'Kandasamy' shooting was to start today. B'coz of the rainy weather, people did wonder if that would happen. But Susi Ganesan can make nectar out of water. He planned to shoot a scene where Vikram gets wet in the rain today. The scene would look natural and he could also save the cost of making imitation studio rain! The shooting will start on Chennai's East Cost Road and will also move abroad to other places like Kenya. 'Kandasamy' is line up for release on April 14, 2008. Actually, Susi Ganesan had planned yesterday - to shoot this rain scene when it was raining non-stop. As if to act erratic, till noon this morning, there has been no rain at all !!

Vikram’s Kanthaswamy to go grand

We were all view to the mega launch of Kanthaswamy. It has become a trend setter of sorts usher in new standards for film launches in the future. Starting from the invite with in-built LCD screens showing the teaser promo of the movie to embracing of two villages by the producers, it spells innovation in every facet of film making. The shooting of Kanthaswamy is going on in full swing and the makers seem to be snowed under by the launch function response from the fans and viewers that they are currently rethinking about their already planned strategies for the film. This multi crore project is now all set to go grander as they felt their original plans were outdone by the expectations the promos created. The wave were felt by the crew which decided to go in for some tweaking up of scenes to make it live up to people's expectations and even go beyond that. For this reason they might buy more time; anything to out beat the audience's expectations is a welcome effort. Hope this amendment doesn't force them to digress from the original story but just remain an embossing.

Vikram’s interview

When will Beema see a release? It doesn't matter if films get delayed and are released late; even Pithamagan took a long time before seeing a release. There is some more shooting due for the film; soon it would see a release. There are certain rumours that you are going to do some Hindi films… I still have a lot to achieve in the Tamil industry itself, only after that will I even think of Hindi. My fans range from kids to old people, even Amitabh Bachchan appreciated my role in Anniyan. I have several friends in the Hindi scene like Abhishek Bachchan and Vivek Oberoi, yet I am not interested in doing Hindi films at the moment. Will you team with director Bala again? If Bala says that I will suit the role, then I will surely act under him. What is your next film? Kandasami directed by Susi Ganesan, the director of Thiruttu Payale would be my next project. Shooting will commence in March.

Bheemaa censored

The countdown has started. Bheemaa, Vikram - Trisha starrer, directed by Lingusamy is all set to be released on Pongal. The censorship is over and the film is cleared without any cuts. The action packed movie, with strong emotional quotient and physiological approach towards the subject, will enthrall the audiences during the festival time. The movie is a major release for both Vikram and Trisha. While Vikram gets a release after two years, Trisha has a release after five months. Though she had a release in 2007, the movie (Kireedom) failed to make any good for her. The release would be an thrilling experience for everyone involved including the director Lingusamy and the producer A.M. Rathnam, who have been stressed to finish the movie for too long a period because of many obstacles. Now that the movie is ready for release, everyone in the unit feels relieved. All of them are now looking forward to see how the audiences receive the film. The audiences too are very much eager to see their beloved stars in action after a long time. It will be a sweet Pongal gift for both fans and the team of the film.

Trisha, Vikram and the sun kissed beaches

After hibernating for what seemed to have been a year or so, there appears to be life in the Bheema stable these days. Lingusamy is all set to wrap up his mega budget for a mid summer release - after Sivaji that is. For it's final schedule, the crew along with Trisha and Vikram are taking the flight in the name of a duet on April 11. Earlier, the shoots were decided to be held in Australia and - for reasons unknown - the crew's itinerary is now rewritten for a New Zealand trip. They will fly to the charming country to bring home scenes of Vikram and Trisha's romance in the sun kissed beaches, panoramic lakes, and breathtakingly beautiful peaks. Can't wait to see them onscreen? Travel back in time and rewind their earlier chemistry in Sami.
